What’s incredibly unique about Cozy Grove is its setting – its muted color palette just begs to be filled in like a paint-by-numbers page. Every time you help a ghost, they color in the area around them as if you’ve just brightened their tiny part of the island by being their friend.

Set in real-time, this is a game you can play for 30-60 mins a day and not feel overwhelmed by tasks.

You’re a curious little kitty with a big personality in Little Kitty, Big City.

Go on an adventure around the city from a cat’s perspective as you try to find your way back home to your owner’s flat. Explore the city, make new friends with stray animals, wear delightful hats, and leave more than a little chaos in your wake. After all, isn’t that what cats do best?

A Short Hike quickly became one of my Top Cozy Games of all time! As an avid hiker, I was intrigued by the story of walking to the top of the mountain.

A Short Hike is a tiny story about conquering the trials of nature with an act as basic as walking. It’s a love letter to getting away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a delightful twist on the classic Zelda formula. For the first time in a mainline game, you play as Princess Zelda, stepping in for the missing Link to restore peace to Hyrule.

Guided by a friendly fairy named Tri, Zelda wields the new Tri Rod, a magical staff that lets her conjure “echoes”: replicas of objects and monsters she’s encountered. These echoes help her solve puzzles, navigate tricky terrain, and even fight alongside her in combat

Haven Park is a game about exploring a tiny island. It’s like A Short Hike but with cuter graphics in my opinion.

You play as Flint, a young yellow bird who’s tasked with restoring his Grandma’s park. In her old age, she has been unable to keep the park running and she needs you to craft materials to build and mend her once-bustling business.

Wytchwood is a crafting RPG with a to-do list as long as your arm. If you like ticking boxes, collecting and advancing at your own pace you’ll love this atmospheric fantasy.

As the old witch, you’re tasked to collect souls for a demon goat. You’ll collect magical ingredients, brew spells, and meet curious characters. I think fans of Cult of the Lamb would appreciate this.

Wytchwood isn’t just a walk in the park, you’ll discover that you’ll need to pay close attention to your Grimoire and the ingredients you need to collect. It gets quite repetitive but if you like ticking off tasks and being methodical then this will satisfy you.

Spiritfarer is my favorite game in recent years. It was released during the summer of 2020 and since then has gained huge popularity for its characters and emotional storytelling.

You play as Stella, the new Spiritfarer. Along with your companion Daffodil the cat you’ll sail to undiscovered islands freeing stuck spirits and gathering materials to craft aboard your boat. You’ll learn about your connection to these spirits and why they are so important to you as the story progresses. 

In a world where mysterious plants are spreading all over the earth, emitting toxic spores as they grow, a small group of survivors seeks shelter on the back of a giant, wandering creature they call ‘Onbu’.

Become their leader, build their settlement and form a symbiotic relationship with Onbu to survive together in this hostile, yet beautiful post-apocalyptic world.

Some video games are just works of art. If you want a cozy game to relax with you must play GRIS. The watercolor art in this game is so stunning and my Switch storage is full of screengrabs.

So, you play as a young woman navigating through grief, and folks let me tell you, it’s done so beautifully. You’re not just playing a game; you’re exploring a literal work of art as Gris has to find her way back to herself as color seeps back into her world.

And don’t worry, the gameplay is super chill. Think easy-breezy puzzles and platforming, and if you’re up for it, some skill-based challenges—no stress, no danger, and definitely no combat. You have to check out my review!

Unpacking is a Casual, Zen puzzle game about the familiar experience of pulling possessions out of boxes and fitting them into a new home.

Throughout eight house moves, you experience a sense of intimacy with a character you never see and a story you’re never told.

Unpacking is a point-and-click casual puzzle game that I did prefer playing on PC due to the nature of the game mechanics but if you only have a Switch console I do still recommend giving it a play.

This game had me reevaluating every relationship in my life.

Hindsight is the melancholic story of Mary, a young woman who must sort through her late mother’s home. I don’t think I’ve ever played a game that touches on the relationship between mother and daughter like this before.

You have to relive memories and the heavy emotions that resurface with each old object Mary finds. Hindsight is a narrative exploration game spanning the entirety of a woman’s life.

It’s deep. It’s emotional. It’ll tear you apart. Bring the tissues.

I’ll never stop raving about this game! Coffee Talk is a visual novel set in Seattle. This is no ordinary coffee shop. This world is one of fantasy, where vampires and werewolves need their evening coffee fixes.

Your most regular customer though is Freya, who the story will continually circle back to. Freya is a passionate writer for the local paper and your customers have piqued her curiosity. She’s charming but mischievous, and that’s why I love her.

There’s little gameplay as is the case with most visual novels but you do get to play with ingredients and design some latte art.

I had the game set to autoplay after a time so it felt more like watching a movie. It’s not often that I’d rather let a story continue than initiate gameplay, but I found myself creating less and less latte art as the game progressed.

ABZU is an atmospheric underwater adventure in the heart of the ocean.

You don’t get any more relaxing than meditation under the sea. You are a lone diver on a journey of discovery – swim with the whales and interact with the world through sonic pings.

There is a story to ABZU but it’s subtle. My enjoyment came more so from the beauty and wonder of observing the marine life and exploring the sea. You’ll be soothed by the melancholic score and watch your troubles swim away as you relax in this stress-free environment.

Become the custodian of a store dealing in occult antiquities. Explore the quaint and gloomy town of Undermere, where strange goings-on and dark mysteries abound. Find and identify arcane artefacts, use your collection to aid the townsfolk with their unusual problems, and remember to pet your cat!

Manage your own discount supermarket! Get caught up in small-town drama, organise and plan your shop’s layout, and strike lucrative trade deals as you expand your secretive aunt’s business empire. 

Design and organise your shop, manage stock levels, work the checkout, and strike trade deals. Build relationships with the charming locals, and grow your business empire while navigating community dynamics. Use every tool at your disposal to expand your business, but be mindful: rapid growth might ruffle a few feathers in this tight-knit community.

Tamagotchi Plaza is set in Tamahiko Town on Tamagotchi Planet. Treat cavities at the Dentist. Make the perfect pair of glasses at the Eyewear Shop. Create table settings of sweets and drinks to fulfill customer orders at the Afternoon Tea Shop. Help serve Tamagotchi at 12 unique shops and grow your shops’ reputations, enticing new Tamagotchi to visit your shops!

Calico is a relaxing, stress-free community sim where you and your magical female neighbors help restock your cat cafe. Fill it will tasty food, stylish furniture, and cuddly cats!

You’ll fulfill the needs of the town folk while being followed by your animal posse – carry a polar bear on your head, ride a bundle of floof, or tell a crow to go to your cafe. The possibilities for a surreal fun time are endless!

Released in December 2020, Calico is a weird and whimsical game that makes for a perfect cozy night in. And it’s getting a mobile adaption too I believe.

Cat Cafe Manager is a cozy management sim waiting for your restorative touch.

Befriend the local cat population and delight your customers as you rebuild your decaying cafe into a place of whimsical wonder.

Set in the village of Caterwaul Way there are secrets to be uncovered and stray cats to adopt. Decorate your cafe while listening to the soothing sounds of mews, and ambient noises of an everyday cafe. You’ll need to hire staff, train them, and dish up custom orders. 

Mario Kart World is a thrilling new take on the beloved kart‑racing series, launching as a Switch 2 exclusive on 5 June 2025. It blends classic Mario Kart fun with a vast, seamless open‑world letting you drive through forests, cities, deserts and more, all in one continuous map .
