I sympathise with death here… the corporate life sucks. I can’t think of anything worse than being perpetually stuck at work. It would be my worst nightmare! Since Death can’t die you can play the levels over and over again, and just button mash your way through, so I guess it’s kinda cozy… right? It may be a hack-and-slash platformer, but if you don’t mind a bit of cartoon blood it’s a good one to pick up.

If the story doesn’t move you (it will) then the unique hand-crafted art style, animation and a beautiful two-tone color palette will.

You’re on rails through an abandoned wildlife park, snapping photos of odd little creatures instead of catching them, using a grappling arm and a handful of Penko balls to coax out different reactions. It’s calm, repetitive, and oh so charming. There’s also a Ghost-o-Vision setting on your camera, letting you photograph the spirits of creatures who didn’t make it. There’s a low-level, hard-to-place dread running underneath the cute exterior of Penko Park and it’s giving cozy paranormal game but cute.

Stage Fright is an upcoming 2 player co-op adventure which can be played oline or in couch co-op (which is what I’ll be doing). It’s set in a spooky little town, with escape room like puzzles and a mystery you have to work through together. Instead of racing the clock like Overcooked did, it’s a longer, story-driven puzzle, more like It Takes Two but with three characters (Drew, Blake and Charlie) who you swap between as the mystery unfolds from different angles.
