When nearly everyone raves about Stardew Valley’s dateables (Sebastian stans are on another level you know), and how many hours they’ve sunk into their farm, it can feel strange to admit to you that I didn’t fall in love with it.

For me Stardew always felt like a chore.

I don’t have that nostalgic connection to it like some long-term fans of the game do. I was busy playing Animal Crossing (much cuter imo). If you have any advice for me please do share. Maybe I’m just playing it wrong.

Honestly, I will continue to keep going back to it to try and understand why it’s loved by so many gamers. Right now, even though I can’t review this game, I can share 20 games like Stardew Valley for you to play next.

What is Stardew Valley About?

You inherit a run-down plot and a lot of weeds (the weeds nearly done me in right there). Clear the land, plant crops that follow the seasons, and raise animals. Farming, foraging, fishing, mining and combat all level up as you use them.

It has nostalgic SNES-inspired pixel art style, over 60 NPCs to befriend, with 12 potential romance partners. Gift-giving, heart events, and seasonal festivals give the town a real sense of community.

Developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone continues to support the game with major updates. It’s available on PC, Mobile, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, extending its reach across platforms.

If you’re interested in similar games like Stardew Valley I’ve picked out the at least 20 that are worth checking out.
