Pastel-Hued Trinket Bag Maker is a Girly Pops Dream Game
Someone pour some glitter on me because I think I just stepped back in time; I just purchased a game that makes me want to party like it’s 1999. Trinket Bag Maker released this month and it is as sweet as a puppy in a teacup. I played it on Steam deck earlier today, let’s take a closer look at this bite-sized game.
What is Trinket Bag Maker About?
Trinket Bag Maker is a cozy retro sandbox game inspired by the 2000’s girl games. You can design your own pretty handbag, and decorate it with adorable charms, pins and stickers!
It’s a short but sweet hand-drawn game created by solo-developer Lya, an illustrator and UX/UI Designer at Mgtt Studio. Trinket Bag Maker started as a game jam project – basically these are games (digital or physical) that are created from scratch within a strictly limited timeframe, usually ranging from 24 to 72 hours.
I’m not a game designer, I had to look that up! 😝 So my apologies if I’m not 100% correct on this description.

Why Should You Play Trinket Bag Maker?
I am smitten with this game! I’m 41 so I was in my mid-teens when browser-based “doll makers” were a massive internet hit. And the drag-and-drop mechanics of Trinket Bag Maker remind me so much of those little Dollz I was such a fan of growing up.
I played Trinket Bag Maker for 30 minutes on Steam Deck, and in that time created 2 rather stylish bags and discovered 8 achievements to add to my Steam account. Check out my rather fetching name charm. What do you think?
Half an hour may not sound a lot, but for a game that cost less than an espresso, and gives me hits of nostalgia, it is a lot of fun.
Trinket Bag Maker is only being $2.99 (£2.49) on Steam, which is a steal!
There’s no tutorial. You just click around as if you’re in a browser. It’s quite intuitive and easy for even a novice gamer to play. You can choose and personalize your base bag before adding trinkets. Pick your bag model and colors, and then change the background to fit your mood.
The music was subtle and I liked how I could change the song choice. I’ve played games for 7x the price that only have one song!
I am obsessed with the 00’s-inspired charms and accessories – from Tamagotchi-style trinkets to floppy discs, lollipops and more!
If you want a cute game with pretty aesthetics that feels like a nostalgic trip to the early-2000’s, I highly recommend Trinket Bag Maker.
