Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit is the sequel

You know I am a huge fan of the original game. Cozy Grove got me through some tough times after the spicy flu burnt me out. Coming home to play an hour or two of Cozy Grove really mellowed me out. It was a bit of a stress reliever for me.

I actually have a game review of Cozy Grove on my blog I wrote back in December 2022 plus a list of similar games I recommend you play if you like cozy life sims.

The sequel stands alone though. You don’t need to have played the first game as the story starts fresh.

What is Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit all about?

You and your fellow Spirit Scouts find yourselves once again stranded on a haunted island in Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit. As a Spirit Scout, you’ll befriend and help an adorable group of ghost bears who’ve lost their memories.

Yes, there are ghosts, but cute ones. Nothing is frightening about this game.

This is a brand-new island with a whole host of new and old characters. You may see some familiar faces like Flamey and Mr. Kit, but there are also new bears, like Kumari, Kyli, and Orsina.

Along with new ghost stories, Camp Spirit brings fresh activities like power washing items with a blowfish. That’s a new type of tool I can get on board with. Why is power washing so satisfying? Please can I have more games that let me clean stuff thanks.

By far my favourite addition has to be the pets. Pets come with their own stories and abilities which is so sweet. I love that they are more than just aesthetic.

My Gameplay Experience of Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit

I wasn’t sure how I was going to get on playing this on mobile. I don’t think I’ve ever played a life sim on it actually. I play small games like bubble shooters, card games and puzzles. Plus my mobile is very old now. I have a Pixel 6 so was the game even gonna run!

Controls on Mobile

You can tap and hold to move your Spirit Scout but I found that tapping locations and letting them run on their own was easier. I often found I couldn’t see where I was going because my finger was in the way. I did struggle with the power washer actually. It took me a few attempts to work out what direction to drag my finger in to make the jet spray in the right direction. It made me really miss my controller.

But I have heard that Camp Spirit has Controller support so if you have any recommendations for backbone devices or Bluetooth controllers hit me up.

Fetch Quests and hidden objects

Most of what you’ll be doing in Camp Spirit is collecting items for the bears so you can earn logs to feed to Flamey. I think this is why the gameplay is timegated. I find constant fetching exhausting. I’d much rather be crafting and decorating than being an errand boy. I find I get overwhelmed with too many tasks. Thankfully I didn’t experience that with Camp Spirit.

When it comes to finding things it’s relatively easy. I didn’t need to use the hit machine once. Just run behind everything if you can’t find something. It’s usually behind a tree or building.

Is Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit Worth it?

If you’re a fan of the original game and have a Netflix subscription, absolutely play Camp Spirit!

It doesn’t cost you anything extra.

I know I was skeptical at first because I’ve NEVER played any games on Netflix before. And actually I was worried because I like to cancel my subscription if nothing is good on, and take a little break. So I was like…

Will I lose my game progress if I cancel my Netflix Subscription?

No, you don’t. Game progress is stored on the cloud. So whenever you restart your subscription you can play right from where you left off.

If you’re still not convinced then I have a list of games like Cozy Grove on Nintendo Switch and Steam you can snuggle up with instead.

  1. I love this game! But I have run into a task that I can’t figure out: I have to take photos of astral projections, but I can’t figure out what those are. Do you have any advice?

    1. Hey Monica!

Thanks for reading my post. To help you with your query – Astral Projections are the other Spirit Scouts that appear around your camp. If you have friends that play the game then they will appear instead of the Spirit Scouts but they are one and the same. You can find them needing help with chopping and mining. They also give you extra loot when you help them. I hope that helps answer your question. Have fun!

  2. Now I want to play this game! Love your blog. I usually play Melvor Idle, it’s not aesthetic but very challenging yet cozy.
